Ghost Pipe's ethereal presence and bloom emerge from rich decayed earth. An ivory translucent color, Ghost Pipe lacks chlorophyll and doesn't photosynthesize, but draws nourishment from a mycelial web of fungi that in turn nourish themselves from forest trees. Each slender stalk is sheathed in delicate, scale like bracts, and at its tip blooms a single, nodding urn-shaped flower. The bloom first bows earthward, and then once pollinated lifts upright, forming its seed capsule that will then release fine fairy dust seeds into the woodland air.
